Passage "Ruth: Yes I would too, Walter (pause) I gave her a five dollar down payment"

Prediction: What I think is going to happen in the rest of the play due to what has already occurred and what is setting up to happen. Earlier a character named “Beneatha” and she had found out about that Ruth is pregnant and as they are talking about it, from previously we already know that the apartment they live in is way too small, it’s a two bedroom apartment, both rooms are packed, her son sleeps on the couch in the living room and they all eat in the kitchen because they don’t have space for a dining room. So during Ruth and Beneatha conversation, Beneatha sills up and says “ Did you plan it, Ruth?” and Ruth responded “Mind your own Business”. Beneatha then slips up and says “It is my business- where is he going to live, on the roof?... Gee- I didn’t mean that, Ruth, honest, Gee, I don’t feel like that at all. I-I think it is wonderful”. According to this conversation and what she said to Walter after Mama had told him that Ruth might be planning on getting an abortion is that she will get one but she will regret it because right after she gets one, without telling anyone, good news will come and then she is going to regret her decision and not know how to break the news to the rest of the family. She had stated that she had put a five-dollar down payment already which, back then was a lot of money.

Passage : "-sometimes when i'm downtown and i pass them cool, quiet-looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking 'bout things... sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars... sometimes i see guys dont look much older than me-" Pg.37

I cant really relate to this but i have seen this happen with relatives that have wanted to do the same thing since they were little kids and haven't gotten the ability to because of their upbringing. They have become very crazed with getting to where they want to be to make money. They see other people making money and become frustrated that they have yet to reach their life goal. Also in my generation it has become a big thing to have a whole bunch of money and spend it on big name designer clothing , some people who dont have that privilege because their parents work hard for the money that they own so they become envious of those who have the money and the name brand things.

Ruth:yes I would too,Walter.I gave her a five dollar down payment

My prediction for this is Walter is going to be heart broken because he is going to realize that his actions and his speech made his wife want to get an abortion and he might change his goals and his dreams because of the new child

" When a man goes outside his home to look for peace " Pg 73 Line 3

    (E) what the author is trying to say is that when you are angry you cannot just go outside looking for peace because it may turn out to be much of a bigger issue and become ever worse .

  6. Walter: "I want so many things that they are driving me crazy ...mama look at me.

I think what he trying to say is that he want so many things but he don't have the opportunity to have them like he want a liquid store because in this time period people use to drink Alot so that why he want so many things that can help him to make money to get out of the house that they live in. And this kind of related to me because when I want something so bad I be thinking about it all the time, but I be patient sometime to wait for the time to have it.

    Act ll
    Scene one

Ruth:well! All I can say is if this is my time in life My Time to say goodbye to these goddamned cracking walls and this cramped little closet which ain't now or never was no kitchen!...then I say it loud and good,HALLELUJAH AND GOOD-BYE MISERY .. I DONT NEVER WANT TO SEE YOUR UGLY FACE AGAIN!

Prediction: the purpose of this quote is to show that the family will be moving to another house Walter mom did the right thing with the money is she buy a new home so everyone can be comfortable but and Walter didn't think his mom would of go buy a house in uncolored neighborhood now everybody will have their own room as Travis have one for himself until the new baby born ,Ruth is happy for what mama did but at the same time she's type of mad because she will be living in a racist neighborhood....

    Act II
    Scene two
    Page 105

    Quote:

Walter:"Mama, you don't know all the things a man, what got leisure can find to do in this city. What's this, Friday night? Well Wednesday I borrowed Willy Harris' car and I went for a drive, just me and myself and I drove and drove...Way out...way past past south Chicago, and I parked the car and I sat and looked at the steel mills all day long".

Prediction: The purpose of this quote is to show that he had to get away from the problems that he is dealing with at this point in time. He didn't get the dream job that he wanted and he doesn't know if he loves his wife or not now knowing that she's having another baby and wants to have an abortion. These situations that he is dealing wit are mainly internal and external. He's externally upset because his mother won't give him the money to invest in his liquor store and his wife didn't discussing this abortion thing with him in the first place. He's internally upset because he can't do nothing about his current job and he's not making enough money from this job.
